Holistic Health and Healing Arts

UNM-Taos offers a 200-hour yoga teacher training program approved by the Yoga Alliance for those who wish to become certified yoga instructors as well as those who may not wish to teach but would like to deepen their knowledge of yoga. The yoga teacher training can be undertaken on its own or go toward the 30 credits needed to achieve Health and Healing Arts Certificate. Our courses alternate between being taught in-person and remotely, to allow students to complete the full 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training program remotely, in-person, or a mixture of both.

It is possible to earn the HHHA Certificate within one year, though students may take classes at their own pace.

This 30-credit certificate has two main tracks: students may take courses from a variety of healing modalities, or they may focus on yoga via the 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training track.

Our students, who are of all ages and from all walks of life, work toward the HHHA Certificate for a variety of reasons. Some choose this route purely for self-exploration and self-healing, while others find our classes support them through the stressors of college. Other students wish to embark on careers yoga teaching or elsewhere in the fields of Complementary Alternative Medicine and the Healing Arts, some after having earned degrees or working in other fields. Still others have found our classes complement careers social work, human services, psychology, and medicine.
